First Time Ever - CLIC will Stock 1,800,000 to 2,000,000 SMELT FRY (not eggs) in East Grand Lake
Because of a very generous contribution by a CLIC member, this is the first year of a three year plan to revitalize the smelt population in East Grand Lake...anticipatedly the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources will also undertake a smelt stocking program on the east shore of EGL also. This project has the approval of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife and is being watched by the biologists stationed in Enfield.
Watch for more information about this ongoing project to be released later this spring and summer.

SATURDAY - May 29, the Fosterville Cemetery Association is presenting a brunch at the NLCC. It will run from 8:00 - 11:00 Canadian, (7 - 10 Eastern Time).
SATURDAY - May 29 - The Grand Lakers ATV Club will hold its spring meeting at the Greenland Cove Campground at 4:00. Annual Membership Fees are due June 1st - $20.00. The GLATV trails extend into Danforth and north to meet Aroostook Rider Trails in Orient.
SUNDAY - May 30 - Forest City CBP Port Open through Labor Day on SUNDAYS & Holidays
MONDAY - May 31 - Orient Port Hours extended to 7:00 AM thru 11:00 PM Eastern Time...concurrent with Fosterville Port Hours. Travellers INTO THE USA must present either a Passport, US Passport Card, a NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST Card or an ENHANCED Driver's License...youngersters under age 16 may present a Birth Certificate.

LAST YEAR, The International Joint Commission and its International St. Croix River Watershed Board held their annual St. Croix public meeting in June but no information has been received as to when that meeting will be held this year. It was during August prior to 2009.

Houlton Community Park Bandshell - Take your lawn chair.
In case of rain, the concert will be cancelled.The Forest City Community Library
will open for the summer in Jane Johnson's red barn. It will be open (staffed with people) on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 (and is available for use at all times) during the summer months. If you have books, and/or movies which you would like to share, let us see them! Please come and enjoy what is available, meet friends, and share ideas. If you come and we are not there, please sign the tablet on the green table, including your name, the book(s) or movies you have taken out and a phone number where we can reach you. The passing of Andrew has been difficult on all who knew him. Many people have asked what they could do in honor of Andrew. Responding to these requests, we have selected the charitable service that arranges for free flights so children and adults can access medical care for as long and as often as needed; Angel flight Northeast. Our goal is to raise funds for this service through the Andrew Rossignol Memorial Fund, that has been established to support their flight safety initiative.

In case of rain, the concert will be cancelledThe Baskahegan Company of Brookton often hosts a Woods Tour of its Forestry Management Operations in Northern Washington County...a bus tour with a box lunch and informative lecture by its forester. If you are interested phone them at 448-2224 and see if the tour is being offered this year. There is no charge to participate.

Annual Perseid Meteor Shower - Hundreds of meteors per hour, best if there is no moon - Best on August 12th but good nights previous and after the 12th
The meteors appear to be eminating from the area of the steller constellation Perseus (where ever that is). The event will go on "rain or shine!" :-D Hope we don't miss it again this year.

Parade line up at Gould's at 11 am Atlantic Time - Parade beginns at NOON AT

Arrive BEFORE the parade starts and park along the side of the road for a front-row seat, south east of Goulds or in designated parking places between Gould's and the Forest City Road
Bring a lawn chair and have fun..watch the Sailboat Race between parade floats.
